Why The Threshold Woman?
A threshold is a place of transition, the space between what was and what will be. Midlife is like this. I don’t see it as a decline but rather a doorway. And the women standing in it deserve to reclaim their health, clarity, confidence, and sense of self.
This platform exists to give midlife women honest information, practical tools, and genuine community. Whether you’re in perimenopause, full menopause, or post-menopause, whether you’re struggling or thriving, you’ll find evidence-based practices, soulful reflection and practical AI-guided support designed for the real challenges of midlife: menopause, brain fog, emotional exhaustion, weight gain, financial reinvention, boundaries, purpose, and beginning again.
At The Threshold Woman, I believe midlife is not an ending. It’s an awakening. A crossing point. A powerful invitation to step into your power and live deliberately.
You belong here.

I’m Maria — and I’m standing at the threshold too.
I’m a writer, lifelong learner, researcher, sailor, and fellow traveller through this strange, disorienting, and often unexpectedly beautiful landscape of midlife.
I created The Threshold Woman because I know what it feels like to wake up one day and realize your body, mind, priorities, and identity are shifting beneath your feet. I’m in late perimenopause myself, and much of what I write comes not from authority or perfection, but from lived experience, deep curiosity, and a genuine desire to understand what’s happening to us as women in this stage of life.
While not a medical doctor, I hold a PhD and I spend a great deal of time researching the science behind menopause, metabolism, brain health, fasting, nervous system regulation, and emotional wellbeing for my books and blog posts. I also care just as much about the human side of these changes. The frustration. The reinvention. The exhaustion. The awakening. The quiet question many women carry: Who am I becoming now?
Outside of my work, I love sailing, being near the sea, spending time with family and friends, moving my body, and soaking in beauty wherever I can find it, nature, music, art, conversation, sunlight on water. Those things keep me grounded.
I believe midlife women deserve accurate, evidence-based information, permission to struggle without shame, and meaningful connection with other women walking similar paths. Most of all, I believe midlife deserves to be seen not as decline, but as a profound transformation. One that asks us to become more truthful, more intentional, and more fully ourselves than ever before.
